Miss Cook and Mr. Bake or A Match Made In Heaven

It was a match made in heaven
people would say
when Miss. Cook married Mr. Bake
that warm summer day

They received everything needed
all the gadgets galore
their wedding reception
looked like a store

Family and friends
“ahhed” and they “oohed”
three toasters, two blenders
a processor for food

Champagne glasses
a juicer and knives
copies of items
enough for eight lives

Anodized cookware
and stainless steel
a wok that could talk
while making their meal

Griddles and fryers
Au Gratin Pans
stones to bake pizza
oven mitts for their hands

Bundt pans and crock pots
a dish for soufflés
ramekins, cupcake tins
two t v trays

A garlic roaster
that got rid of the smell
an egg timer, a poacher
with a musical bell

Three can openers
two cappuccino machines
a cajun inserter
and a pot to cook beans

A nutritional scale
a copper fondue
Miss Cook, now Mrs. Bake
hoped they were through

The couple was delighted
that this process was done
but had to admit
that indeed it was fun

Had they spoken too soon?
for another gift they now spied
the earthy brown wrappings
held by a red cord that tied

Of the contents within
no idea had they
as they opened the box
and stared in dismay

The box looked to be empty
but out fell a small letter
they hoped as they read
that the gift would get better

“This box”, read the note
"is like your heart
empty without me
filling each part

So included have I
a great recipe
to take this match made in heaven
through eternity

Take each day
start it with prayer
add praise and thanksgiving
sift it with care

Think on things that are lovely
holy and pure
hold tight to His Promises
for they shall endure

Spend time with each other
stir in laughter and kisses
sprinkle heart felt dreams
and all of your wishes

Harsh words throw away
don’t go to bed mad
lay up treasures in heaven
and you will be glad

Put all of your burdens
at the foot of the cross
keep your eyes fixed on Christ
and you’ll never get lost”

A small brown papered box
was all they would take
words of wisdom and truth
for Mr and Mrs. Bake

How cute. I had never heard of the box thing, so was nicely suprised to see that it put the couple's priorities in check. Good job!

I smiled while reading the first half of your cute poem and nodded while reading the last half! Good message presented in a fun way! Thank you! :)

Your title was very creative, and I liked how you managed to rhyme things like "a dish for soufflés" and "two t v trays". Your list of descriptive gifts was impressive!

The words of wisdom at the end were perfect. Good job!
