We are what we eat. I read it somewhere. And this is very true. And the mother of every home is the common main role keeper to what the whole family eats. Well, to keep the family's healthy meal is not that easy.

Thinking for their health?
or thinking for budget.

One thing that is hard for me to make a balance meal, is when the budget came stiff. Especially when fruits and vegetables are far more expensive than meats. And when there were sales, I am one of those who panic buying. Situation like this, usually gives me hard time making good meals out of it, yet helps me a lot than no food at all. At the end, I am making meals, on how to make use of the stuffs ready on the kitchen, rather than thinking of a menu with proper balance diet.

Thinking for their health?
or just spoiling them.

Sometimes, I made excuses that my husband loves this food so much, or my children love this food so much, and you may always saw almost same meal on our table so often. Perhaps I really don't like wasting my time cooking, then nobody wants to eat it. But to think it so wisely, they may be more satisfied giving them variety of menus, with a healthy balance, and creative ways on how they will love to eat foods, even those vegetables they hate, rather than serving them the usual old menus, especially those high calorie foods.

Thinking for their health?
or just thinking for an easy work.

Another easy work are those ready made foods. I found ready made foods so convenient, with just a minute inside the microwave, delicious foods were already ready to be serve. I really appreciate most of it, but I know it shouldn't be on a regular basis, especially for the fact that some of those have artificial ingredients that are not really very good to health.

Cooking for a family is a serious matter.

Cooking is not a light work, it is not that easy, yet the joy you will reap cannot be bought when they stay with you long, healthy and satisfied. And here, the thought of Spiritual nourishment came to me as well. We are Spiritually fit if we are spiritually nourished. The parents role on each family member's spiritual enhancement, especially the mother who used to keep the household have the very important role.

How we create an atmosphere in our home, is like cooking for the soul. If we are a loveable mature Christian to our family, we are releasing the heavenly blessings to flow to each member. If we avoid things that distracts a prayerful home, like overused of television, and too much games or Internet, so that we can concentrate more on communicating to our dear God. And allow time and reason for our family to read the Bible at least a minute a day, it will make difference to our family's spiritual health.

But just like cooking our balance healthy meals, there were excuses too, and there are many factors that will be hard for us to keep our home with a Holy atmosphere. Perhaps, our husband maybe not a Christian, or we maybe working and having a busy schedule, children's school affairs might always be very busy, and etc. etc. We really need a wisdom from above to manage our home.

To cook for Spiritual Nourishment is a battle. We really need to wear the full Armour of God. We could be in a situation that we cannot do nothing with the flow of circumstances and situations, so is, overcoming is a must. God doesn't request us to be perfect, but surrender everything to Christ, and overcome the world, our flesh and the enemy.

Cooking foods for health, and cooking for spiritual nourishment's? Does it makes sense with you?

It does make excellent sense to me that we need to be nourished both physically and spiritually! Parents have the responsibility to give both types of "food" to children, so they will be healthy and strong in every area! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this inportant subject!

A very well-thought-out article. I would definitely say there is "food for thought" here. Nice work.
