Old eyes wasted on years gone by.
Why do you speak to me of love
when my death is almost nye?
Go! Begone in the quietness of this day.
And I will sink back on my pillow and dream away...
of years past, of my one true love,
of one who was taken from me by God above.
Why would God take them
and leave me here all alone?
Pastor, who are you to speak to me?
...of kindness and forgiveness
as substitute for my bitterness?
Do you not know of my distress?
My body awaits its last breathe.
Pastor, who are you?
You speak to me of a new birth
and life, of faith and peace and worth.
You take my hand and speak of hope and a sweet heaven.
You speak so kindly of Jesus, Savior and Lord,
and of a new reunion of sorts.
It sounds so good, could it be true?
Pastor, thank you!
...for speaking with me!
I would like my place in Eternity...
Father in Heaven forgive me.
