Riley's life is an enormous display of God's glory. Each miracle, we have seen many, leaves me speechless. Riley is Autistic, which creates complications, however; the addition of Type I Diabetes and a Seizure Disorder has resulted in total chaos for this eight year old little boy. This child's life would have ended many times if not for the presence of God.

As Riley has grown, his physical abilities have greatly surpassed the development of reasoning skills. He often places himself in harm's way without even realizing it. Daily prayer and faith is required because only the Lord can keep up with him. An awesome example of divine intervention in Riley's life occured during a vacation to the beach this past summer.

Riley loves the water and the hotel pool was the first thing he spotted as we made our way to the hotel room. This put me on guard and so I closely monitored my son's activity during the day and I made sure he was fast asleep at night before I would go to bed. During the last night of our stay, I awoke at about 12:30am only to find the door to our hotel room standing wide open. Riley was gone!

I franticaly ran to the pool and found my son standing in the water. I was extremely surprised to find that a strange man was kneeling beside the pool and speaking to Riley in a soft, gentle voice. The man noticed me as I climbed over the fence that surrounded the pool and he explained that he had been driving by the hotel when a small child caught his attention. The child was climbing a fence so the man stopped his truck and followed after the boy. The gentleman then let me know that he had been waiting for me to come outside.

I rushed into the pool and as I got close to Riley, I noticed that he was standing perfectly still. Our unexpected lifeguard had kept my son in the shallow end of the pool by providing a verbal distraction. Riley never went made it into the deeper water. You see, Riley cannot swim. Thoughts concerning; my search for swimming lessons, the outcomes that had been possible, and relief over Rileys safety, ran through my mind with record speed. I looked up from the pool in order to extend my gratitude to the stranger but he was already gone.

I carried Riley back to the hotel room as I tearfully thanked God for his personal "I love you" statement.

An excellent story. You said so much in so few words. Well done!
