My sea of life is sometimes rough
If I forget who guides me,
I clearly need God's shelter of love
That cares surrounds and hides me.

Sometimes I am drowning
In amongst the raging tide,
It's pointless treading water
When my hope is lost inside.

Whirlpools can be baffling
And tidal waves-the worst,
Moods and thoughts would be more clear
If I had sought God first.

But here is some advice to you
When learning how to swim,
Don't look down, look up to God
And reach your hand to Him.

And if the waves are getting worse
You simply can't reach out,
He will throw you a life belt
So you won't drown from doubt.

Don't worry child-He's watching
As you swim toward the shore
He'll direct you forward
Where you've never swam before.

If life's the sea and waves-our pain,
Emotions like the thunder,
God can calm the storm you've made
You'll never quite go under.

You may-like me need arm bands
When the deep end gets too hard,
It's not so scary when we think
Of who is our life guard!

Very nice, very true. You said exactly what needed to be said, and the poem is very nice too. Good work.

Such a charming piece - I enjoyed your imagery very much, and such a wonderful message. What a lifeguard we have indeed!

Probably the best poem on this topic in the Beginner's level. Nice job!
