I have a friend, Sharon who is a nurse. She burns her candle at both ends, rarely thinking of herself, focused on what needs to be done. She logs in more time with her patients than she does with her family. I last saw her several months ago and was alarmed at her appearance. She confided that she had been quite sick for several weeks, but did not have time left in the day to tend to her own needs.

Living in the fast paced world that we do, many tend to fall into this same pattern as Sharon. We burn what energy we have on making ends meet to the point of neglecting our spiritual needs. We degenerate to weak and sickly Christians. The world looks to us for strength and all the answers, but we have none. We forget who our strength is. Where our power lies and who holds all the answers.

The good, even great news is that it only takes an instant to regain our strength and plug back into our power source. All our weaknesses consumed by the source of all power. Our sickly bodies and spirits regenerated by the touch of his healing hands. He is always on call and eager to assist when we call upon his name.

“And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” This covers both physical and spiritual healing. All we must do is call upon the name of the greatest Physician who ever lived.

* Matthew 9:35 KJV

Thank you for your reminder that we cannot meet the problems around us in our own puny strength! No matter what our occupation or ministry, the source of all lasting help and true healing is in Jesus!

If we turn to God for strength and guidance, He is willing and able to provide what is necessary. Thanks for the reminder.
