Requisite for a Kindergarten Teacher
A kindergarten teacher
Should be gentle and kind.
A sweeter, more loving person
You just couldn’t find!
Of course, she’d be firm and fair,
And a nice smile would grace
Those soft, rosey-red cheeks,
And laugh-lines adorn her face!
A little plumpness wouldn’t hurt,
Hugs are softer that way!
And each time she heard you sneeze,
“God Bless you,” she would say!
A good supply of bandaids
Is most important, too.
To heal those terrible wounds,
Yes, every little boo-boo!
Yes, she’d teach the A, B, C’s,
Those 1, 2, 3’s, and more:
When to use indoor voices,
And “Only lions roar”!
But, even more important,
She’d teach how God cares,
How to think of others,
And of strangers to beware!
Recess would be important,
Good fresh air and sunshine
To make the children healthy,
And rest well at naptime!
Then, when class time is over,
She’d say, “Good-bye” and pray:
LORD, just give me the courage
To come another day!
