Police patrol the streets to ensure that everyone obeys the law. They are here to protect us and others by bringing violators of the law to justice. When we break the law we are putting ourselves and others at risk for getting hurt.
It may seem as though they are our enemies when we get fined, or sent to prison for the night or longer. We might not realize the fact that they’re our friends and are only protecting us from the guilt and punishment of even bigger crimes.
It reminds me of the Holy Spirit living inside every Christian. The Holy Spirit will convict us when we disobey God’s law. Since no one likes to feel guilty, it might seem as though God has turned away from us, or is against us. We may not always realize that He is only trying to protect us from eternal punishment. Conviction of the Holy Spirit not only protects us when we yield to him, but others around us as well, because, believe it or not, others are using us as Christian role models.
We must yield to the Holy Spirit and He will gently draw us back to God with a repenting heart. When we repent, God will always forgive our sins and set us free again.
We have to pay the fines ourselves in order to be pardoned by the earthly justice system. But when we break God’s law, all we have to do is repent and know that Jesus paid it all. Praise God for Jesus and the Holy Spirit living in us!

It is because God loves us, though, that He disciplines us. The police don't do what they do out of love but from a sense of duty.
Overall, though, this was a good explanation of the role of the Law and the Holy Spirit in our lives. Thanks for sharing.
