Farmers for Christ

(The first step- Preparing)
{God sent Jesus to prepare the way for us by dying on the cross}

The hot, boiling sun beat down on us, as my father and I worked along side each other readying the field for our garden that is planted each year. My job was to toss out all the big rocks that would hinder the tiller blades from loosening up the soil where the tiny seeds would be placed.

(The second step- Plant)
{We plant the seed of salvation to the lost}

Beads of sweat dripped from our brows, yet stayed until the job was complete. I knew it was something that had to be done in order to prepare food for the winter months. The earth’s dirt was rich within my hands as the seed was covered with dirt, fertilizer. The key ingredients used in enabling it to grow to its full potential. It was hard labor, but it would pay off in the end.

(The third step – Water)
{The bible helps us grow in Christ, as water gives drink to a thirsting seed}

After the hole was covered, we knew it was time for the last process in order to make most anything grow. I smiled to my dad as he took the hose along each row soaking the soil until it was well saturated.

When the work was done we put away our tools and went inside. We sat down at the table before a delicious, mouth watering meal. Closing our eyes my father asked me to say the prayer. I was happy to oblige.

With my eyes closed I prayed:
“Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the field for preparations for our garden, Lord, thank you for preparing the way for us by dying on the cross. Thank you for the seeds we planted today, we ask you Lord to bless this crop to be abounding in fullness and plenty. Lord, thank you for our salvation, for placing people along our pathway to share that seed of your love with them. Precious Jesus, thank you for giving us your word that helps us grow as water does to our garden. God you have blessed us with so much and we are humbled and thankful. Give us the courage to step out on faith and be farmers for you, plant the seed of Jesus within the lost , care and love them as they grow in you.

“For it is in your precious and Holy Name I pray.. AMEN”

Very good way to weave a Biblical message into a charming story of gardening. I really enjoyed it.

Being I grew up on a farm, I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful read. Great analogies of farming tasks with the Christian walk. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty good. I liked the way you wove together the comparison of gardening for real and gardening for soul.
