There was a voice I heard one day,
A voice that tugged my heart.
It chose to follow me around,
In gently color art.
I wondered why it came to me.
When life was darkest dim.
The warmth of it guided me.
Through days of thick and thin.
Oh, why do you stay with me
When I am wretched as can be?
You know I'm unable to reach the goal,
The goal that I can't see.
Why take the time to send a song
When all seems bleak and dark?
Could it be a voice from you, my Lord
To bless and cheer my heart?
Ah, yes, you're there for me,
I remember as a child.
A song of joy, a time to know,
You're here to calm the wild.
Thank you Lord, you're always there,
So faithful and so true.
I hear the song, the tugging now,
Of faithfulness from you.
Oh melody, of melodies, so very sweet to hear,
You my Lord have always been so gentle and so near.
