Heavenly whispers, sounds of angel’s wings,
Unlocked from deep inside my heart.
Rainbow colors no eyes have ever seen,
The Son of God was the light to impart.
Family and loved ones were there to greet me,
They welcomed through the open pearly gate.
A homecoming of love surrounded with life,
Floods of joy with anticipation were great.
There was a crystal sea, sparkling jeweled walls,
Was it just a dream or imagination gone wild?
The streets I walked gleamed of pure gold.
It couldn’t be mere fantasies, as a child.
And oh, the sweet music I felt, as well as heard,
No earthly sounds could ever dare to compare!
The glorious praise from all of heaven’s hosts,
“Who is Worthy? The Lamb” they declare!
Then I saw Jesus, the true light of that place,
His nail scarred hands held open to behold.
A glowing expression of love filled His face,
“This was for you” His countenance told .
As I recall the sights and sounds of heaven,
Even now, on this dark and stormy night.
My deepest longing and unrest of my soul,
Is to bask again in the glory of His light.
Then it was over, this heavenly vision of mine,
I awoke to the starkness of mortal condition.
No-one comprehended the journey I’d taken,
And denied the truth of heaven’s proposition.
The doctors say my heart had stopped beating,
Sweet death contained a short while.
But God sent me back, my time was not through.
With a commandment for a new life-style.
To tell of His mercies, His love and grace,
To lead lost souls to the place He’s prepared.
To conform me to the image of His Son, Jesus,
For His love in me, with others to share.
A bittersweet vision of everlasting life,
I cling to when the storms cloud my sight.
My own taste of heaven, I’ll never forget it,
The vision of my Savior, and the city of light.
