When this old computer has a bad day,
And my internet service fades away,
Right in the middle of a long email,
Suddenly all of its functions fail.
My temper flares as I bite my tongue,
No longer patient as when I was young,
Trying once more to get my words out,
Down it goes as I let out a shout!
Few things get on my nerves anymore,
But this old computer sure makes me sore,
I love it more than my newest shoes,
So why does it have to give me the blues?
On sleepless nights it’s my best friend,
I can surf or write for hours on end,
Sometimes it works like an old techno pro,
At others it works for gray hair to grow.
To say I get miffed is to put it mildly,
My blood pressure pumps and rises wildly,
I don’t understand why it does me this way,
I treat it with love and care everyday.
It returns my affection with sudden freezes,
And I have to ask for help from Jesus,
“Dear Lord, take the wheel!” I pray,
“It’s just a machine!” I hear Him say.
These are the times when I must listen,
To what amounts to His great wisdom,
“Though this old thing may sputter and stall,
Be grateful to have a computer al all!”
