come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk,*
Wine that makes glad the heart *
And fill your lamps before
the midnight hour
oh virgin daughter;
your betrothed, anxious, longs
more than Jacob for His bride,
He who is chief among ten thousand
the altogether lovely one,
with lips that drip liquid myrrh
a mouth most sweet,
closed before accusers false
opened to the Father pleading,
“They know not what they do.â€
So prepare thyself beloved bride,
the vines their buds appear
at any moment
blossoms will open
pomegranates are also
set to bloom
mandrakes their fragrance
eager to gladly abandon
and pleasant fruits
to spring up at the gates.
For against the eastern sky
the Son now presses hard,
nail scarred hands yearn to
pull the heavens apart,
waits for the Fathers command
over eternity's threshold
He shall carry you over
into the wedding chamber,
veil rent, where you will enter
forever!
*(Isaiah 55:1b)
*(Ps. 104:15)
