a darling little ballerina who
was as beautiful as a butterfly.
She danced for eleven years
and then she flew.
Ballerina butterfly
Did dart and dance
And flit and fly
And arabesque
And échappé [ay-sha-PAY]
And pirouette
And grand fouetté [fweh-TAY]
And danced upon the stage
Of our acclaim
And how she graced the stage
Delightful little butterfly
Did leap and swirl
And soar so high
And live and love
And laugh and play
And hold our hearts
And graced the days
She lived upon the stage
Of measured days
Oh, but how she graced the days
Dear fallen little butterfly
Our hearts will break
And eyes will cry
And faith will pause
And wonder why
And wonder why
And we must pray
And find the strength
To say goodbye
And plead for strength
To say goodbye
Angelic, dancing butterfly
Did slip the earthly bonds
To fly, to fly
And arabesque
And échappé
And pirouette
And grand fouetté
And dance upon the
Heavenly stage
Of God’s acclaim
And grace His stage
Through endless days
Of eternity
Goodbye, Martha Anne
