Say it.
Say the words that
cling like glue to
the recesses of your heart.
Say the words that
whinny and neigh in
stubborn resistance
at the door of your lips.
Say them.
Oh, say them now.
Say the words
before they rot and stink
in the vat of yesterday’s
intentions.
Say them before the distance
stretches beyond returning.
Say the words.
Or do you think that
hoarding such manna will
feed your lonely tomorrows?
And will squirreling away the blessing
feed your winter heart?
Go ahead.
Say it before pride’s dam
bursts
with billows of rancid hurt,
with torrents of words
best unheard..
Say it
before screaming silence
freezes all hope,
buries all light in
tombs of regret.
Say the words.
Give them birth.
Let them breathe.
Say them purely, gently.
Say them with the sweet conviction of
compassion’s truth.
Go ahead.
Say the words
before night falls and
hearts turn into stone.
Say the words,
before all time is gone.
Say the words,
“I’m sorry.”
“If you are angry, do not let it become sin. Get over your anger before the day is finished.
Do not let the devil start working in your life.” Ephesians 4:26-27 New Life Version
