JANUARY 2011
FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained Christian!

"So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it." – Philippians 3:15, 16

Welcome to 2011! I hope you had a healthy and prosperous 2010 and that this year will bring you more joy, more peace, and an abundance of blessings, both personally and in your writing endeavors.

With the start of a new year, everyone's talking about their resolutions and goals. The Bible indicates that setting goals for ourselves is a good thing. Goals help to keep us motivated and give us something to strive towards. But while setting goals is simple, reaching them is often not quite so easy. The main thing, though, is to stay focused on our objectives and do our best to stay on track.

What about you? Do you set New Year's resolutions? Did you reach any of your goals in 2010? Be sure to read the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at the end of this newsletter to see what some of your fellow FaithWriters members had to say.

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS

Last month, I asked the following question:

DID YOU STICK TO YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS LAST YEAR? WHAT IS ONE GOAL YOU REACHED IN 2010?

Here are some of your answers:

"Abiding by my New Year's Resolution was a piece of cake, literally; my goal was to eat as much as possible and exercise rarely.  Give me a pat on my padded back for my overwhelming success." - Mike Allen

"One of the things that I achieved was that I did not borrow throughout the year. I am so grateful to God Almighty for freeing me from debts." - Uzoamaka Philips

"I resolved to do more for Christ's Kingdom. This year I helped start a Nursing Home Ministry through my Home Church." – Patsy Hallum

"As I just started writing again this year, my goal for 2010 was to become more-published than 25 years ago. Success! I'm pleased to say my patriotic letter-to-the-editor was published in the July 4th weekend edition of USAToday this year. I also had two devotions published on the Mustard Seed Ministries website. " – Ally Canning

"I stopped making New Year's resolutions years ago because I never could keep them. I do, however, sometimes set goals for myself. One goal for 2010 was to publish my book "Come, Lord Jesus," a commentary on the book of Revelation. That was accomplished in May." -  Thomas M Parsons

"For the first time ever I kept my New Year's resolution. I resolved not to make any resolutions and I was able to faithfully keep that resolution all year long. Yay me!" – Lollie Hofer

And now for the February question:

DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO VALENTINES DAY OR DO YOU THINK THIS HOLIDAY IS OVERRATED?

Send your 1 or 2-sentence answer to faithwriters.contact@yahoo.com. Then check back in February to see if your response was selected to appear.

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING FAITHWRITERS.COM IN 2010. WE LOOK FORWARD TO AN EXCITING 2011 AND WISH YOU A HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!
