The HOME for Christian writers! The Home for Christian Writers!

FaithWriters.com news and information for the Write-brained Christian!

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV)

What's black and white and re(a)d all over? THIS NEW FAITHWRITERS NEWSLETTER, of course! Look for this letter each month to inform you of exciting things that are happening at Faithwriters.com. You'll hear about current aspects of the site you may not have known existed. You'll also learn about brand new additions and features. And the truth is this newsletter WILL be read by people all over, since FaithWriters members come from all over the world! That's what is so great about FaithWriters! Although we come from different countries, backgrounds, and ethnic groups, we have the same purpose. First, to glorify God and second, to hone and improve on the writing talent that God gave us.

Recently, the FaithWriters Member Main Account Page underwent an extreme makeover! Don't worry - your page still contains the same great features, only now it has a brand new look with easier navigation. If it has been a while since you logged in to FaithWriters.com, why not catch a wave and surf on over to check out the NEW and IMPROVED FaithWriters? You'll be glad you did!

This is a question posed to a select group of longtime FaithWriters members. Here are just a few of their responses:

"Just as iron sharpens iron, as it says in The Word, FaithWriters helps me sharpen my pen. Challenge. Encouragement. Honest critique. Winning and losing, sharing celebration and disappointment with caring people = Growth. The common myth is that writing is a lonely profession. It doesn't have to be. FW is proof of that." - David Grant, writer, editor and cartoonist

"You get to click a lot.  Free market leads. Cyber chocolate. Online tools for writing improvement. FW 500 benefits.
Fishing for Compliments link. eBook marketing."  Glenn Hascall, professional freelance writer, book author, and class clown

"I'm a shy person, and Faith Writers is a place where I can feel safe, where I can write in the voices of people that I would never be. I can be nobler or funnier or more spiritual than I am in real life--or I can be villainous, conniving, or just plain ridiculous. Similarly, because of my shyness, I'm not much of an evangelist, spiritual leader, or counselor--but I can reach out with my writing, through Faith Writers. I may never reach thousands--but I can touch one life at a time." - Jan Ackerson, teacher and award-winning writer

"The things that led me to FaithWriters were: a burning desire to write, lack of experience, fear of judgment, desire for critique, and friendship with others. I didn't know I could obtain and receive so many benefits in one place, but God did. God weaves His presence throughout each thread of the FaithWriters community and provides a haven for those who desire to hone their craft and write for Him." - Wendy Decker, Author of "The Bedazzling Bowl."

Some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet can be found on the FaithWriters message boards! Connect with other Christian writers and make a new friend today! Got questions? Find the answer on the FaithWriters message board. After stopping in to introduce yourself in the Newbie forum, head all the way down to the FAQ section. If your question and answer can't be found there, pop in to the Water Cooler and simply ask. Someone is sure to jump in with the answer before you can say, "I'm confused."

Other things to do on the FaithWriters message boards: catch up on the general FW announcements, get current information on the upcoming FaithWriters conference, post prayer requests and praise reports, debate Bible theology, get great writing tips and freelance opportunities, request article critiques, seek out a writing mentor, chat about the current Writing Challenge topic, and lots more!

Are YOU up for a challenge? Do you like to have fun? Want to show off your writing ability? Do you love receiving encouragement and advice on how to make your writing even better? Would you like the opportunity to be published in a quarterly anthology? If so, The Writing Challenge is for you!

New topics are announced every Thursday morning at 9:00 AM, Eastern time. Then it's time to unleash your creativity! Write a poem, devotion or short story. Write drama, humor, or a little of both! Feel free to think outside the box but stay inside just enough to make sure your entry is relevant to the given topic. And be sure to stay within the range of 150 - 750 words. Anything over or under will be removed from the challenge. Attention all of you procrastinators: don't wait until the last minute! The challenge has a 200-entry limit. You snooze…you lose!

The following Thursday morning, when the NEW topic is announced, the entry you submitted the week before will be posted. Now it's time to read and comment on the entries and wait for feedback on your own entry. But don't forget to write and submit your NEW entry to that week's current topic.

The top ten winners are posted the following Thursday, along with the next topic and the new entries to read from the week before.

GOT THAT? It may sound confusing, but if you have any questions, head to the message boards. There's a whole forum dedicated to the Writing Challenge. Here you'll get the answers you're looking for, an opportunity to "hint" to other members about what entry is yours, and get a peek at the top 40 entries each week.

For more details, or to enter this week's Writing Challenge, go to: http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php

OK! So that wraps up this month's FaithWriters Newsletter! Hopefully you learned a thing or two, or at the very least feel compelled to check out the NEW Member Account Page and always IMPROVING FaithWriters website.

Coming in December… Details about the first annual FaithWriters conference, FaithWriters merchandise gift ideas, The FaithWriters Magazine, and member Book Reviews.

Until then, think of something you're thankful for. And THANK YOU for being a part of the FaithWriters family.

Have a wonderful THANKSGIVING!

God Bless,
Scott Lindsay
