FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained Christian!
"I have one small request to make of you," she said. "Do not refuse me." The king replied, "Make it, my mother; I will not refuse you." – 1 Kings 2:20 (NIV)
Mother's do so much for their children, don't they? From the moment their children are born, giving is the thing they do most – from food, clothing, toys, spiritual lessons, and perhaps the most precious gift: their time. "Unconditional" and "Sacrificial" most closely describe a mother's love for her children.
But mothers rarely seem to get the appreciation they're worthy of. Mother's Day might not make up for the other 364 days of the year, but at least it's a special day we can set aside to give back to our moms and let them know how much they mean to us.
So what about you? Are you a mother? A step-mother? If so, wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day! May you be surrounded by your kids and receive the thanks and appreciation you deserve.
Be sure to read "Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters" at the end of this newsletter to see what a few of our FaithWriters moms are wishing for this Mother's Day.
The number of FaithWriters 500 members continues to drop. The poor economy might be to blame, or it may partly be due to people not taking the time to renew their memberships when they expire. We've had a few members recently that simply didn't realize they were no longer registered in the FaithWriters 500 program. Please check your account to make sure you still have that pretty gold emblem next to your name. If not, please take a moment to renew your membership. We desperately need your help!
And here's a bonus! FaithWriters 500 members receive a discount on their conference registration fee! It's just another way we bless those members who financially support our ministry.

WEEKLY WRITING CHALLENGE
There are only a few weeks remaining to get in on this year's Weekly Writing Challenge. A "year" runs from July to July and we are in the fourth and final quarter of the year. When this quarter ends, all of the number one entries from the previous year will be judged and a new Best of the Best will be crowned. Jan Ackerson will be dethroned (unless she wins again, which is quite possible with all of the #1 entries she's had over the past year). The members who place in the top three spots will walk away with a nice cash prize!
Stay tuned for the results, to be announced July 1st!
In the meantime, hurry up and enter while you can still get in on the chance to become this year's Best of the Best! http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php
OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
This month's question was not open to all FaithWriters members; it was only open to the moms.
This was the question posed:
What is on your Mother's Day wish list?
Here are some of the responses:
"My daughter and stepdaughter are both grown. This answer may seem trite, but it's sincere. I want a phone call and an "I love you, Mom." A hug would be nice, but my step daughter is 400 miles away." – Betty Castleberry
"I would love to have an entire day with NO "nitpicking" among my children!! Just to have everyone be really nice to each other for the whole day!" – Eleanor
"My Mother's day gift (combined with my birthday gift) from my husband is my registration and lodging for the 2nd Faithwriters Conference in Livonia. So - I'm GETTING my wish!" – Joanne Sher
"I don't want to have to cook that day and I want an undisturbed nap." – Shari Armstrong
"For my own Mother's Day - a free schedule for an entire day, my family all home (and not in the basement!), the phone off the hook and no visitors. That, or chocolate. Which do you think it'll be?" – Di Dar
"Certainly I'd love to sleep in, not cook, and take a nap. If I am really wishing, I would like to have the twins completely potty trained in a day. Being finished with diapers would be like winning Powerball." – Michele Roach
By the way, I'd love to hear your response to the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters question of the month. The question has only been asked on the Message Boards but many of you are not active on the boards. So, beginning this month, I will post next month's question in the newsletter and you can contact me with your answer. Please keep responses to 1-2 sentences. I will then choose a few to use in the upcoming newsletter. Thanks for your participation!
JUNE QUESTION: What is (or was) your favorite thing to do with your dad?
