"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son…" John 3:16a (NIV)
Ah, February…the month of love. What better verse than this famous "love" quote from the book of John that speaks of God's intense love for us. He loved us so much that he GAVE. When you love someone, giving comes naturally! So what are you giving to the ones you love? At the end of this newsletter, see what some of our FaithWriters members had to say about the most memorable gift they've ever received (or given).

FAITHWRITERS U.S. CONFERENCE IN NASHVILLE
Excitement is building for the second annual U.S. FaithWriters conference scheduled for August 8 and 9 in Nashville, Tennessee! However, at the risk of sounding desperate for registrations, we encourage you to sign up soon. The early bird rate of $165 is good through the end of February but the sooner you sign up, the more confident we can be that this conference will go ahead, as planned.
Many of you displayed initial interest and although we're fairly certain that the final attendance count will outnumber last year's conference, we're not getting the early response we hoped for (or need). There are deposits to be paid and, truthfully, without a certain number of paid registrations, we may have to rethink our plans.
If you are definitely planning to attend, please consider sending in your registration form as soon as possible to keep the conference plans moving full-speed ahead.
As for the conference details, they couldn't be more exciting! Hear excellent speakers, including our very own Deb Porter. Another featured speaker is Michelle Medlock-Adams, award-winning journalist and author of over thirty-five books. Glean from the wisdom of published writers who "know their stuff" and get some wonderful insight into the world of writing. In addition to valuable workshops, there will even be a FaithWriters Talent Show for your entertainment.

It's not too late to participate in this quarter's Writing Challenge! And "writing challenge" is definitely the right phrase this time around! This never-before-done theme, "Illustrate the Meaning Of…" has so far included, "All that Glitters is not Gold" and "A Stitch in Time, Saves Nine." The challenge is to write a story, article, or poem that illustrates these meanings without using the actual phrase. See what I mean about challenging?
The top ten entries each week will earn a spot in that quarter's FaithWriters Anthology. How cool is that!
Are you up for the challenge? Enter today! http://www.faithwriters.com/writing-challenge-intro.php

FROM THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
In keeping with the Love / Gift theme this month, a few select FaithWriters were asked the following question:
What is the most memorable gift you've ever received or given?
"Although my wife and I have been together for over 21 years now and just celebrated the birth of our fourth child, we actually started dating when I was but a young lad of 14 and she was 15. Being a geeky, high-school freshman that was dating a sophomore, I thought that I was 'hot stuff.' Being a 14-year old boy, I knew little or nothing or romance, class, or how to properly 'woo' a lady. I believe our first Valentine's Day together came 3 months into our relationship. If I recall correctly, she paid for dinner, gave me a lovely gold chain, a sweater, and a card. I on the other hand, gave here one of those tacky stuffed animals that you would get at a trashy carnival and I think that I forgot the card. Fortunately, she saw through my 'rough exterior' and decided to stick it out for a few more years (which have since then turned into decades). To this day, she still provides me with a specific list of presents for all holidays and occasions. Included are the product description, store address, shelf location, and a 'friendly reminder' never to deviate from the list!" Michael Aubrecht, Civil War Historian and Published Author
"The best gift I've ever received came from God, and I thank Him every day for being so generous. On February 14, 1988, my other half and I became one flesh in His presence. This Valentine's day, 2008, we will celebrate 20 years of wedded bliss." - Catrina Bradly, wife, mother, writer and FaithWriters member
"In 2002 for Valentine's Day my husband signed us up for a marriage retreat our church was hosting. This required a trip to a town about two and one-half hours away and a stay in a hotel. The weekend was great. Nine months later our second daughter was born. We call her our Souvenir." - CeCe Lane, Stay at Home Mom and Writer
This month, be creative in expressing your love to your family and friends. Most of all, remember how much God loves you…so much that He GAVE His only son. Wow!
We at FaithWriters love you, too, and are grateful for your support and prayers. Don't forget to sign up for that conference! We hope to see you there!
KEEP WRITING FOR THE KINGDOM!
