FaithWriters.com news and information for the write-brained Christian!
No dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Philippians 3:13 (NLT)
Wow! Can you believe it's 2008? How quickly the last year flew by! So, what was 2007 like for you? Was it a good year? Did you keep your New Years resolutions and accomplish all you hoped for in the past twelve months? When reflecting on 2007, are your memories happy ones? Can you look back and say, "what a great year!"?
Or was the past year not so good? Maybe you experienced hardship and trials. Perhaps you wish 2007 could be erased from your past altogether.
Whatever 2007 was like for you, 2008 can be better! We may not completely forget the memories of the past year (and may not want to!) but we can strive for and focus on the fabulous future God has for us.
At the end of this newsletter, check out what things FaithWriters members hope to accomplish in 2008.

2008 PAGE TURNER CONTEST
Okay, non-fiction authors…this one's for you! Last year, the focus was on fiction. This year, show us what you've got in the way of non-fiction!
The PAGE TURNER is a first-chapter contest in which you submit the first chapter of your non-fiction book, along with a brief synopsis of the entire projected work. It doesn't necessarily need to be a "Christian" book but must reflect biblical morals and values. Polish your first chapter to perfection. The winner will be determined by not only the quality of first chapter itself, but the page turning potential of the entire book.
Entries will be accepted through June 30. Winners will be announced on November 30.
Visit the Page Turner contest page for all the details on how to submit. And check out the fabulous prize package, which includes editing, publicity, press releases, and cold hard cash! http://www.faithwriters.com/page-turner.php
This contest is open to FaithWriters 500 members only. If you are not yet a 500 member, visit the 500 member page to learn more about the wonderful benefits you receive when you sign up: http://www.faithwriters.com/myaccount/donations-from-members.php

FROM THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS:
A few select FaithWriters members were asked the following question:
Resolutions aside, what is one thing you hope to accomplish in 2008?
"The new year will find me getting acquainted with the multifaceted publishing industry. I have short story, poem, and essay collections glaring at me. I also have a novel, The Faeren Lands, ready to (hopefully) impress a publisher, and a contemporary novel, Barriers, that I want to finish. So that's my goal for 2008: To get published!"- Mid Stutsman, FaithWriters 2007 Best of the Best Winner and 500 Member.
"There is no greater service for the Lord than to raise our children in the way they should go. In 2008, I greatly anticipate continuing to teach the Bible to my two youngsters. My three-year-old's comprehension has reached a level that will allow us to study the Bible in greater depth. And for my ten year old, we are now digging deeply into her new NIV Bible using themed Bible studies." – Peter Stone, Bible College Graduate, Musician and Author.
"Besides the personal goal of establishing a new life in 2008, I hope to move beyond the safe world of Faithwriters and explore new writing ventures. Whether or not I choose to leave Faithwriters, I'll always be grateful for their support and love and the necessary refining my writing underwent." – Ann Grover, FaithWriters member and frequent Writing Challenge winner.
WE AT FAITHWRITERS.COM WISH YOU A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR! MAY 2008 TRULY BE A YEAR TO REMEMBER!
