FAITHWRITERS CONFERENCE REPORT
The above verse was never more greatly demonstrated than a few weeks ago at the inaugural FaithWriters conference. There was CHEER, HARMONY and AGREEMENT. The SPIRIT in that place was powerful and sweet. And, of course, there were plenty of holy HUGS to go around!
All in all, the conference was a HUGE SUCCESS. All of the speakers were fabulous and dynamic, including the gracious Sally Stuart and our very own Deb Porter - two very special ladies who poured forth a fountain of knowledge, teaching, and encouragement.
We laughed all the way through Reverend James Snyder's, "Writing Humor is Funny Business," workshop. And, believe it or not, there were even some major chuckles generated in Dub Wright's "Nuts and Bolts of Grammar" workshop. Who knew grammar could be so fun? Cori Smelker taught us the ins and outs of freelancing and left us with some wonderful tips on breaking in. And, of course, David Ian kept us smiling with his presentation of "Writing to be Performed." He even brought a few tears to our eyes with his touching tribute to the spirit of FaithWriters.com.
A special thanks to Amy Wiley, who brought everything together so beautifully and made the conference happen. And to all who volunteered…you are appreciated more than you know.
We're thrilled to announce that plans for the 2008 conference are already underway and Tennessee is the anticipated location. Mark your calendars now for the second FaithWriters conference to be held next year on August 8 & 9.
Missed out on this year's conference? Well, you can still get in on the expert knowledge, advice, and encouragement offered in the workshops! Recordings from each conference workshop will soon be available for download. Stay tuned for more details…

Let's face it. 99.9% of us need help with our writing skills. Think of the best writer or author you know. Do you think he or she got to that point with no help or training? Of course not! FROM THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
Because the message boards are still buzzing with excitement from the recent FaithWriters conference, this question was posed to a few select members:
Was the FaithWriters' Inaugural Conference what you expected? Why or why not?
"NO! It was not what I expected - it was way beyond my best expectations. I enjoyed every single minute as I was blessed with an abundance of love, acceptance, and knowledge. The variety of speakers and topics on Saturday provided a well-rounded day of learning and such encouragement. The continual fellowship of people I had grown to love and the chance to hug them in person (not in "cyber") was better than the best day I could have imagined. I can't wait for the chance to do it all again!" – Tammy Johnson, Pastor's wife, FaithWriters 500 member and conference attendee.
"The 1st Annual FaithWriters' was everything I expected and more. Not only did the conference offer professional instruction concerning the 'ins and outs' of writing and publishing, it offered all of the participants a chance to meet with and hang out with like-minded individuals." – Dan Blankenship, FaithWriters 500 member and author of "The Running Girl."
"I did not expect the powerful anointing on each speaker. It was a time of both encouragement and worship as we basked in the presence of God. (No kidding! It was that good!)" – Crista Darr, Homeschool Mom and FaithWriters 500 member
And that wraps up the September newsletter! Until next month, "…Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. Greet one another with a holy embrace…." - 2 Corinthians 13:11
And keep writing for the Kingdom!
