Tamara discovered her writing talent at 14 years old under the tutelage of her wonderful freshman literature teacher and earned the right to represent her school at the Young Author's Conference that year. She has written privately since and published an online article for the Well-Connected Educator on using technology in the classroom in 1997. She contributed an article to the Love and Logic Journal and had some of her parenting stories included in their "Tales of Successes with Kids" in 2003. She started a blog on living out the Christian faith in practical ways in 2009 and in 2010 started writing articles for Demand Studios to be published for online sites such as ehow and Answerbag.
She graduated in 1992 from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics. Upon deciding to teach, she returned to complete a teacher education program in Elementary Education at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon, earning her teacher license in 1994. She attended community education classes in Spanish at Walla Walla Community College, Walla Walla, Washington to enhance her marketable skill base.
Tamara was raised in evangelical and pentecostal churches and cannot remember a time that she didn't consider herself a Christian. But in 1987, when she was 19, God reached her with His warm golden blanket of love in a way that touched her deeply and personally as never before. She considers that the real start of her Christian walk. Some of her favorite Bible verses are Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy 2:12 and James 1:22-24,27 and 2:14-19, 24,26.
