During his teenage years prior to his salvation, he encountered many precarious situations while living a riotous life in sin. Longing to find out his identity and what his purpose for was for existence, he became involved with street gangs, riotous alcoholic activities, drug abuse, theft, and the pushing of stolen goods.
In November of 1984 he decided to join the U.S. Air Force hoping to salvage what his riotous life in sin did not destroy. This turning point in life marked the beginning of what was to become his new life in God. For, it was in the military, being exposed to the different lifestyles of people and encountering children of God throughout the United States, that the Lord began to draw Him.
Not until January 1988 did Bishop Ocampo accept Jesus as his personal Lord and savior. From that moment on, the Lord has been and continues to lead and guide him in His word -- continually going from height to height and from depth to depth.
Although he possesses no formal collegiate education or attended any recognized seminaries, it is very evident through his many teachings, messages, and publications that the Lord indeed has blessed him with a keen understanding and knowledge of the Word of God that no college or seminary can ever impart.
Bishop Ocampo has started several churches and Bible studies, both in the United States and overseas. He's taught seminars in major church conferences in the US and abroad. He's been invited by many churches as the guest speaker to deliver the Sunday morning message. And he's also been booked on many special occasions to be the keynote speaker of church banquets.
His numerous accolades by fellow-laborers in the gospel and unlisted accomplishments are, indeed, manifestations of the life he has embraced in Christ Jesus. Truly, he is a man of God and one that should be heard by those seeking to excel and abound in their walk with Christ Jesus our Lord.
