Introduction
Developing an understanding of WHEN we are to do something is just as critical an issue as WHAT it is that we are to do if we are to fulfill the general and individual roles that God has assigned to us in the post-salvation spiritual life.
The restoration of our planet in preparation for the inhabitation of Man and very purpose that God had in mind for having created the human race is revealed to us through such things as the timing of these events.
Scripture teaches that “there is a time for everything (Eccl.3: 1 NIV)” in all that goes on here on planet earth on the global level and in the individuals lives of those who inhabit it. In the plan of God, there will be days of adversity and days of peace and contentment. We must learn to appreciate the significance of both.
Time is one asset that is never replenished. An understanding of this will encourage us to see EVERY day as a day “that the Lord has made” in which the primary purpose is for us to glorify Him. How we choose to use our time reveals much about the list of priorities that we have established for ourselves.
None of us know how much time we have before we are called home to be with the Lord, but we can be assured that a date and time has already been determined and that our departure is inevitable. Our life here on Earth is not getting longer, it is getting shorter. Each day we wake up we are all that closer to the day we won’t.
The timing of our departure may have nothing to do with our age, gender, health, wealth or any other human factor. When we have our priorities straight, we will not want to die one second before or live one second beyond what the plan of God for our lives call for.
