TITLE: True Love's Blessings
By Bella Rossiter

Moms, choose to see the love in your child's life through their eyes, instead of thinking he or she is making another mistake. Remember when you thought your mother was mistaken about your choices in life? Choose to see the beauty and it shall be beautiful!
Once upon a time, a long time ago . . . a baby girl was born . . . she was a gift from heaven and her parents could tell that she was an angel.

“The hair on her head was as fine as spun silk and her baby-blue eyes twinkled like jewels in the sunlight. Her mommy couldn’t resist kissing the soft plump rosy cheeks and burying her face in the sweet baby smell of her tender neck. Her adorable mouth smiled and giggled irresistibly and mom and dad were smitten with heavenly love.”

Bad things and sad had happened in her mother’s life long before she was born. She had another family with three children, two daughters and a son, whom she loved very much. But she and their father were not happy together. She had to choose to leave them for a while until she could make a new home for them.

She worked very hard and long hours as a waitress in a fine new restaurant. There she met a good man who was working as a cook since the restaurant’s Grand Opening Day.

Where she was small of stature with long flowing blond hair and sparkling blue eyes, he was tall and had dark brown eyes and a mustache, which couldn’t hide the delighted smile that lit up when he looked into her eyes. There seemed to be an affinity that flashed between them from the very start.

He also worked hard and long hours, determined to make a new life for himself, too. Many miles away, lived his former wife with the two small children, a daughter and a son, they had brought into the world together. There were many problems they could not solve so they sadly went their separate ways.

Because both the man and the woman had great responsibilities, they only became friends at work. One day they knew they wanted to know each other as friends away from work, too. Oh, how they both wanted to have a home and family again; to love and be loved for themselves and not have to fight with life anymore.

One day they decided to make a home together. The bachelor effect in his mobile home was soon changed by her feminine touch. He built the ivy arbor and the low pickets to enclose a newly seeded lawn. She planted rose bushes, pansies and border flowers. He cleared a pathway to the doorsteps and she laid the stepping stones. They were as happy as they could be, but something was missing; the love and hugs of their children in their lives.

The sadness would overcome them when they least expected it. Work sometimes seemed a dismal chore. Their hearts wondered if they would ever really be happy again.

As vacation days drew near, they decided to “get away from it all” for a while. The lure of Canada beckoned them northward. Victoria was an old-world dream, exotic and romantic. Youthful exuberance flowed through their veins. Love for each other bloomed and happiness filled their hearts. They loved deeper and greater than they ever had before. Blessings overflowed.

Returning to their jobs with spirits lifted, their co-workers knew there was an aura about them that had never been there before. They were truly in love. Morning sickness was attributed to catching the flu. She became sick and disdained the usual morning cigarette with her coffee. Her pale features and the sapping of her natural energy became cause for concern. How could this be happening to her? She had no plans to have another baby!

Together they trusted the unknown future into God’s hands. They didn’t know what else to do; besides take one day at a time and believe the answers would come.

The moment the tiny bundle was placed in her arms she knew her baby girl was more precious than gold. He was certain the miracle of their child was truly a gift from Above. They were irretrievably bound together from that moment on.

Through the course of their daily lives, their treasure grew more lovely, loving and more deeply loved. She was cuddled and cooed over everywhere they went. Before they realized it, she was able to climb up onto the kitchen counter. She pointed to the 6th of May and told her mommy that it was her mommy’s birthday! However did she know such a thing? She talked about heavenly things she had no way of knowing about. Where was her knowledge coming from? She somehow seemed to belong to another dimension they knew nothing about.

Even though sleep tangled the silken hair, her parents vowed to never cut the long blond waves. It was a symbol to them of her other-worldliness. She learned at her own pace and they continued to protect and nourish her spirit.
The display of hyper-activity caused them deep concern and they took steps to modify her behavior. Climbing on the counter late at night was soon discovered when the evidence of spilled cereal crunched beneath their bare feet.

Though the world revolved around their darling girl, they remembered to see each other as special gifts, too. This vision of their love will soon smile with glittering braces on her teeth. When she grows up she will dazzle others with her intellect, her depth of spiritual perception and her brilliant smile.

For Cyndee and Frank, their precious angel will always be known as their gift from God, for she was conceived in the depth of their passion for each other while in Victorian glory, and watching the unfolding radiance of a Kenyan dawn, after whom they named the blossom of their love, Kenya Dawn.
