HELP TOUR

It's easy to critique the works of others and get your work critiqued. Just follow the steps below:

1) Post your first piece.

2) You must then critique the work of another member to post another piece yourself.

3) For each critique you give, you earn 1 credit that can be used to post another one of your writings.

4) You can build up credits to be used at another time by giving critiques to others.

(new here, learning)... NOT sharing this with the girl yet (her mom agrees). She doesn't need to know my feelings ...this much yet. It would likely make her a bit uncomfortable.
Already Seventeen

I have a daughter,
But did not sire her.
I have only known
Her mom just a year.

I wish I didnít expect
In her future she will ask
her birth dad to walk her down
Öthe aisle. Instead of me.

She doesnít hate me, but
still thinks of the one that isnít here
As her dad.

Itís not: My heart versus his.
My emotions say it is.
I gain on him every day
Even though I donít want to want to
(thatís what my emotions say).

And then last night we scrambled and crammed
Into the storm shelter.
She came near and crawled
into my lap and curled
up and fell asleep.
As the winds outside
Whirled.

My baby girl.
