This is written for every American to enjoy.
There was a man who had a dream
A long long time ago,
The Reverend Martin Luther King
I'm sure you all do know,
For a United America
Where every color and race,
Sharing all things equally
In this beautiful place.
Then there was Bob Kennedy
Some forty years ago
Who said that in forty years time
Our President might be Negro,
Well he was shot down in his prime
And never lived to see,
A Black man in the White House
He predicted so truly.
So America we've lived to see
That some dreams do come true,
And with Obama at the helm
Our faith has been renewed,
He is a true American
Part African part white,
He knows the struggles of the poor
We know he'll do what's right.
Will he be perfect? No he won't
'Cause not a man can be,
He'll make mistakes like others did
And they'll be fixed, you'll see,
We'll just step back, give him a chance
Let's see him walk the walk,
His campaign slogan was for change
And he talked a great talk.
So Black and White people unite
Asians, Hispanics too,
And every race in this great land
Rallied together true,
It was a lovely sight to see
Them go from door to door,
Asking Americans to choose
Democracy once more.
So Americans are fired up
And all ready to go,
Into a new direction now
Not waiting for tomorrow,
And so this awesome dream lives on
And we are proud to see,
This is a true United States
We're in good company.
