Do we sometimes ask 'not Thy will but mine be done. Perhaps not consiusly, but when we pray and ask (demand) something, isn't that what we are really doing.
Until we give up our will – we're just telling God we won't obey and we expect Him to come down and take all the bad out of our life.
He never said He would do that. He said He would give strength for the day – light for the way.
REFINERS FIRE
to burn away the dross and purify
Undoubtedly there are times when our bad times are simply this.
We are jars of clay on the potter's wheel. He needs to mould and shape us to make us the way He wants. He sees the finish and needs to mould us to the image He has of the finished being.
We need to be broken (of our own stubbornness and rebeliousness) to be made to His design.
BREAK ME AND MOLD ME, O LORD
We have no right to act like spoiled children and cry and moan and have a 'pity party' because we want what we want and we want it right now, and can't have it.
What we're really saying when we do that is, 'I don't want to do it your way, Heavenly Father who made me, I want to do it my way and I want and expect Your blessing.
I want and expect you to make my life perfect the way I want – and I want it right now.
