Simplify, Simplify 8/8/08 (Revised (/3/08)
Oh, Lord, bring me back to the simple life.
It seems so complicated now.
I am right in the middle of so much strife,
But I know You'll release me somehow.
Life seems overgrown with the ivy of strain,
Like weeds unwanted in a garden,
My energy is sapped on every plane,
I'm looking for a Godly pardon.
All this excess is my own making,
As I've added to my own list,
And part of the problem is my mistaking
God's pure will for my own closed fist.
With this in mind, I'll cross off my own will,
And offer much prayer, communion with Him,
Simplify, simplify, simplify still,
To get over MY every little whim.
