The Great Planner

The subject for tonight’s Bible study that I am facilitating at my church was goal-setting. It was a fascinating study on setting goals for the dreams and destiny God has for us. God gives us plans and a destiny if we will just pray and listen for Him to speak.

We learned through Scripture that God is a planner. He set goals and made plans. He knew the plans He had for you before the creation of Adam and Eve. God has a destiny for each of us and he has goals and plans already mapped out for us to follow. When we ask, He will tell us. And He will tell us in a way that we will be certain we hear Him correctly.

The destiny He has for us may not be what we’ve dreamed about or even want. And yet, as He reveals the destiny, it becomes exactly what we want. The destiny He has for us suits us perfectly. If we need to be equipped, He will equip us. If we need resources, He will provide them. If we need to set goals to reach that destiny – and we probably will need goals – He will help us there too.

Setting goals is quite easy: 1) you need pen and paper; 2) you pray and ask God to give you His goals for you; 3) you write down what you believe God is saying; 4) you read them and pray over them several times a week. As you pray, allow God to change anything that you may not have heard correctly or that you may have written out of your own heart’s desires.

Someone once said, “If you aim at nothing, that’s exactly what you get.” If you don’t set goals, you could miss out on the destiny God has for you. And you wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?
