To Be a Beacon 5/22/08
Lord, give me Your torch to light my way,
For the sun has not shown itself today.
The night has not passed to break the dawn,
But I do not sleep or even yawn.
There are some things now that seem so bleak,
That to most people I will not speak.
I keep them hidden deep down inside,
Because they hurt my ungodly pride.
But You know all my secrets so deep,
And my heart You still and my soul You keep.
Were it not for You, Lord, in my life,
I know that myself, I could not like,
For You have proven my worth to me,
Just because a child of Your's I be.
You love me so very well indeed,
To the core of my soul, your healing speeds.
With man it is different in every case,
But in this one pilgrim You have placed
Your heart-warming, love-giving gift of peace,
That only the Holy Spirit can meet.
I thank You, Lord, for this gift of mine,
And try through my life to let it shine,
To be a beacon to those in need,
So maybe Jesus can sow a seed.
