When in the Grip of Deep Despair 5/4/08
When in the grip of deep despair,
I bring to You my heavy cares.
I know that You are always there.
When I weep and wail and cry out loud,
I know You hear my mournful sound,
And to Your heart it brings its round.
When my enemies are closing in
With their thundering and mighty din,
Oh, save me, Lord, from every sin!
When gnashing teeth are at my door,
And I am frightened to the core,
I wait upon You, my Holy Lord.
I know You'll not let me be destroyed,
That You will have angels employed
To surround me so there is no void.
Safe within their encampment I'll be,
And then the enemy will see
The Lord's power and glory to be
The saving grace of all His saints
Who go on to live without complaints
Because each one on his Lord he waits,
Knowing that he is in Jesus' hands,
And because of that, from harm withstands,
The dastardly deeds of Satan's plans.
