Whether for better or for worse, I am a true "son of David" in many aspects. I didn't realize until long after I wrote this piece that within it, I have expressed value for Pride, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

I'm a work-in-progress, folks! And to change that lyric might not be an honest representation of who I was when I wrote it. I've been thinking of changing the song around to better-suit my outlook now, but I'm not sure how easy that would be. Feel free to tell me if I should try to change it or just keep it the way it is.

02/25/08 GA did it again, y'all!

I did end up remixing this one yet again! Changing one paragraph was really all I felt necessary. (See if you can pick out what separates take 1 from take 2, and tell me what you thing of the change.) So here's another ruddy and red-faced metal jam from the Giantslayer! (And hopefully, this time, it's built to last.)

~GA
Peace, Christ, and METAL!
With no end, my Goliaths continue to attack!
Feel like I'm wasting my youth just beating them back!
There has to be more to life than fighting every day.
I think back to the past as time slips way...

In the field stood a giant, nine feet tall
With a six-foot sword to slay them all
The soldiers stood stunned, afraid to go to war
Until David asked "Have we not a purpose to fight for?"

Have we not a purpose to fight for?
Have we not a reason to live?
Our dreams cannot be taken from us!
Why do we so freely give?

I know this truth as I know my Father!
I'll not lay down in fear of another!
He put a piece of His will inside me.
And His will shall be done eventually.

It is He who knows what I was put here for
It is He who calls you and me to war
It is He who gives us dreams to fulfill
It is He who will save us or have us killed
COME ON!

COME GOLIATH! (Come get your beating!)
COME GOLIATH! (Intimidation is fleeting!)
COME GOLIATH! (Please do NOT waste a second!)
COME GOLIATH! (Now it's YOUR TIME TO RECKON!)

Without Him, I am nothing. This I can see.
On this, the whole world seems to have agreed!
But there are things in my mind I cannot explain.
If I am not His son, I must be insane!

I don't understand how others can ignore
The dreams that they once had-what they were put here for.
I know the world has a way of bringing us down
But I was named after a KING, AND I WILL HAVE MY CROWN!

A crown that God put in my heart to chase!
It is the only reason I was born into this place.
Without a hunger in my soul, I’d be a total disgrace.
I gotta’ spend my heart and soul on Him before I’m erased!

COME GOLIATH! (Come get your beating!)
COME GOLIATH! (Intimidation is fleeting!)
COME GOLIATH! (Please do NOT waste a second!)
COME GOLIATH! (Now it's YOUR TIME TO RECKON!)

Saul gave David his own tunic
A coat of armor, and a bronze helm on his head.
He also gave him a sword
But David turned these down ‘cuz he wasn’t used to them.

Instead he took his staff in hand and
Chose five smooth stones from the stream.
He put them into his shepherd’s bag
And then grabbed up his sling.

“You come against me with sword and spear and javelin
But I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty!
The God of Israel whom you have defied!
This day the Lord will hand you over to me!”

“And I will STRIKE you down and CUT OFF your head!
Today I will give the carcass of this Philistine
To the BIRDS of the air and the BEASTS of the earth
And the whole world will know there’s a God watching over me!”

I only wish it could be said…
That David fought long and hard for Goliath’s head.
But as soon as David made his intentions known
He ran foreword at the giant and STRUCK HIM WITH ONE STONE!

“Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine.
Your servant will go out and fight him for thee!
The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the bear
Will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine!”

The giant is dead! Now there is a reward
For a small boy king. It's a six-foot sword!
Too heavy to lift, unlike the crown.
Even the smallest hit brings evil down!

See the flawless mystery of the gifts of God!
At a time when David’s older, unarmed and down-trod
The giant’s sword will re-appear in the temple at Nob.
He’ll find it wrapped up in a cloth, there behind the ephod!

COME GOLIATH! (Come get your beating!)
COME GOLIATH! (Intimidation is fleeting!)
COME GOLIATH! (Please do NOT waste a second!)
COME GOLIATH! (Now it's YOUR TIME TO RECKON!)

This one's done... BRING ON THE NEXT ONE!
This one's done... BRING ON THE NEXT ONE!
This one's done... BRING ON THE NEXT ONE!
COME GOLIATH, COME!
