Hey there! This is something I wrote a little while back and I've been trying to decide if I should post it. It's a bit edgy-geared more towards the Christian metal scene. I'm hoping there's a few people on this site who can appreciate and critique a song of this sort. Thanks bunches!
I bear a scar from the bite of sin upon the tender skin of my neck.
Come and look very close, it’s no longer so easy to see.
It’s my reminder of Satan’s fangs which sunk in so deep.
This horrid scar will always be here, it’s a mark which I detest.
Although I’ve escaped from the fierce grip of his vicious fangs,
Satan was sure to leave this deadly poison behind.
I’m condemned to die from a potency of this kind.
I can feel this venom in my body as it pulses through my veins.
This venom contains a painful strength of which I cannot cope.
The poison weighs me down like iron in my heart.
Yet I’m alive because the Light has overcome dark.
The grave is my fate but I will live for I was given the antidote.
It’s not a one shot fix, I need to get a good dose every day.
It dilutes the venom down so I can cope.
Jesus Christ is the one and only antidote.
He fills me with the right amount of anti-venom when I pray.
When I’m weak I go to Him and He gives me everything I need.
He reminds me His antidote won’t run out.
And when I’m plagued with a painful bout
He pours His medicine in; He fights the venom and sets me free.
My good intentions are doomed to be polluted by the venom in me.
I cannot wash this dark stain of Satan’s poison away.
But my Savior can for on the cross my price He paid.
He descended into the depths of hell and from Satan took the keys.
Because of what He did now I can fight this venom and the grave.
Satan’s venom is strong but against Jesus it can’t stand.
Still, Satan tries his best to inject as much venom as he can.
For the pain it brings Jesus is the only drug I so desperately crave.
Satan tries to kill me with his deadly venom but I know he’ll fail!
I will consume the strongest dose of Jesus I can hold.
I will drink of His antidote until He overtakes my soul.
I know with Jesus as my antidote, Satan’s poison won’t prevail!
