TITLE: Dear Jesus, It's Your Birthday

Dear Jesus,

I'm so glad that Your birthday comes
Only one time each year;
For I get so worn out spreading
That old Christmas cheer.

The shopping's done for twelve long months
Right up to Christmas eve,
Why people wait until the end
I simply can't conceive.

For weeks it's baking cookies and
Then candies of all kinds;
Nights in the kitchen - a chaos
Yet no one really minds.

It takes preparation to have
The birthday of a King;
And yet I know you'd rather that
Our hearts to You we'd bring.

But the world would like to make You
Suddenly disappear;
Especially in December
On Your Birthday each year.

To go to church - or say prayers
Aloud with our heads bowed.
Well, I'm afraid the time is near
When that won't be allowed;

Someday they may take away our -
Favorite Christmas sights;
Perhaps the tree, the tinsel and
Beautiful twinkling lights.

Those things don't really matter and
They can't take You away,
For You live in our hearts and that's
Where You're going to stay.

So we can celebrate Your birth
Any day of the year,
And daily we can choose to spread
That old Christmas cheer.

But since this year we are still free
To recognize Your birth,
Let's pray that soon there will be peace
Upon this planet Earth
