This piece is kind of a story in poem form. I don't know if this would fit the "rules" of poetry. I tend to be a bit out side of the box when it comes to my writing styles. I just write things down the way they come to me! Hope you like it. Please let me know what you think and if you have suggestions. God bless!
I see you standing right outside my front door.
and I already know exactly who you’re looking for,
but that person you knew doesn’t live here anymore.
I may look the same, but I’m not who I was before.
I know you came to see that person you once knew,
so I’ll try to gently break this shocking news to you;
I was very sick and required a heart and mind transplant.
My old heart and mind died and they’re not coming back.
I see you’re not quite catching what I’m telling you.
That look on your face tells me you’re quite confused.
I understand this isn’t something you’d expect me to say,
so let me see if I can explain this in another way…
It was complicated but finally the old me passed away
and now you’re standing in front of a stranger today.
You see, the person whom you knew so well is dead
and now Jesus is residing here in this body instead.
So, you can put an end to this missing person mission.
Your old friend is dead due to a changed heart condition.
There was a whole crew trying to save my old state
but God’s great power prevailed and the old passed away.
I see you’re not quite catching what I’m telling you.
That look on your face tells me you’re still confused.
I understand this isn’t something you’d expect me to say,
so let me see if I can explain this in another way…
Jesus caused all that was old in me to pass away.
Now you’re looking at a brand new creation today.
Everything about me has been completely transformed.
The old me has died and through Jesus I’ve been reborn.
I’m not into the stuff we used to do and I never will be again.
I’m just not that person you used to party with way back then.
I don’t feel I’m missing out or like my life has come to an end.
In fact, I’m starting out fresh and new because I’ve been born again!
