For me to step into them and into the Light.
They're just sandals, yet are biblical somehow.
Brown, strappy, strong, they look set for a journey.
'Come as you are'. My feet to follow His footsteps?
I found little within me of which I was sure
Myself only known darkly, like a bulb underground
Perhaps, soon, a flowering, maybe just like a crocus.
'Begin as you are' yet, so far, it's a 'tending towards'
Constrained within, to forge a new centre and a middle way,
Unknowing Love, or that love releases, nor how time deepens,
Nor that colours brighten and blend, unknowing how lovely I am.
A life once lived on the edge, now rooted in silence
And noted in journals. Am I sum of all that I ever was?
Long travels within to seek soul & authenticy
And my sandals, also still, wait for me out in the sun.
Yet, now I can 'Come as I am, garbed in His acceptance
Brightly I come in my flawed perfection, adorned in pale purple.
Planted in good ground, rooted in all that is; in simplicity.
Self-conscious in sandals and believing in my first steps.
