TITLE: Who Is This Man?

These words came to me directly from the Lord. I think this might make a good song or maybe a short skit for Church. Let me know your opinion! These words are just too good to sit around collecting dust-I really want to do something with them!
Who is this man stumbling down the road?
Who is this man being crushed under such a heavy load?
An awful criminal He must be; a robber, murderer, and thief.
He must have lived a life of crime.
He must have been imprisoned countless times.
To deserve a punishment such as this one,
many awful things He must have done.

If He's the criminal they say He is, then surely He must die.
Yet, in my heart, something just doesn't seem right.
There's something that radiates from this man's face.
There's a Presence surrounding Him which could only come from God's grace.

Who is this man so beaten and bruised?
Who is this man on which the harshest of criminal punishment has been used?
Who is this man with blood running down His brow?
Who is this man wearing a thorny crown?
My mind tells me a horrible criminal He surely must be,
but my heart seems to feel more and more love for Him
with each step that brings Him closer to me.
I've heard some whisper that He's the Son of God-the Prince of Peace,
but how could it possibly be?

Who is this man carrying a wooden cross?
I want to call out to Him, but for what to say, I'm at a loss.
Who is this man whose flesh has been torn from His bones?
Is He more than just a man?
I wish there was some way to know.
Now He's so close to me and for a second, our eyes meet.
In this man's eyes so much love I see
that my heart seems to have dropper to my knees!

If He's the criminal they say He is, then surely He must die.
Yet, in my heart, something just doesn't seem right.
There's something that radiates from this man's face.
There's a Presence surrounding Him which could only come from God's grace.

Who is this man, trembling and weak?
Now He cries out and falls to His knees!
Who is this man beaten beyond recognition?
Who is this man who has collapsed in pain and exhaustion?
I've heard some say a worse criminal there could not be.
I've heard others say He's the Son of God, the Mighty Prince of Peace.
Who is this man who has fallen at my feet?

The questions flood my mind as I help Him to His feet.
He takes my breath away in one word
when He lays His hand upon my cheek and whispers, "Believe."

Who is this man they're nailing to a tree?
He is the Son of God, the Mighty Prince of Peace.
Who is this man they're sealing in a grave?
He is the One who said He'd surely arise in three days.
Who is this man who stands in front of me now with
scars upon His feet and hands?
This is my Savior, my God, the One and Only Son of Man!
