This poem was written a few months after the death of my mother.
ALIVE IN DREAMS
Alive in dreams you wander through my mind,
Sometimes a step in front, sometimes behind,
Your smiling face so calm and so serene,
Your eyes so full of love not often seen;
How sweet your voice as soft you sing to me
Some little rhyme or childhood fantasy;
Such joy pervades my spirit to the core
Like waves that ripple on a warm seashore.
Here could I stay, enveloped in your care,
Never know pain or grief of you not there,
Here know the peace which your own presence brings,
Here might my heart within me ever sing;
Dearest Mother, gone from this world it seems,
Yet still to me always alive in dreams.
