A gift for A Giver
By Mary Wolf
To you my dear daughter, I want you to have
A poem I wrote today.
It may not seem much, but itís straight from my heart. I know that youíll cherish it most.
To one who can give, from the depths of her soul?
Thought you only share with a few.
You give the greatest gift, when you show us you care. A gift that only a mother can know.
The gifts of the dresses, for which I am thankful,
The flowers you sent me were beautiful.
Once, you even gave me a diamond ring
That was a sacrifice.Certainly no small thing.
You have tried to show me you love me
By giving me your trust.
By sharing your burdens, you show me Iím needed
Every mom knows thatís a must.
The gift you give in so many ways,
Like teaching your children respect.
By calling me, even when you donít have the time.
By listening to my silly rhymes.
Each moment you give, is a part of your heart
A part of the gift that I love.
It shows me you honestly want me to know
How deeply and truly you care.
A daughter is truly a gift of the Lord.
Time passes so quickly you know.
Soon forgotten or never once told, are the words
We should always take time to say.
Life is so precious and short.
Allow me this moment,to give you a gift.
A thank you to keep. To remember from me.
You care! Is a gift I can see
