Man thought he heard something but wasn't too sure
It was only so faint that it could be a lure
If it is important it should have a great sound
One that would rumble and make the earth pound
But this was so faint and tiny and still
"Who should obey this; I don't think I will.
I want something bold and with lots of ambition."
So he turned a deaf ear and was lost with no mission.
And as this man sat and sat without thinking
He kept his eyes focused straight-ahead and unblinking
A new sound was heard that was loud and quite clear
It gave him direction and beckoned him near.
Now this is more like it, I don't have to guess,
And my life is carefree no more to assess.
So he tuned in and reviewed every single channel
He gained all his knowledge from each talk-show panel.
Oh yes, he became "in tuned" so they say,
Yet more out of touch with each passing day.
"I've wasted my time and plundered my gift,
In the enemy's hand did my calling sift."
All alone was the man, forlorn and rejected.
No more beneath God's wing and protected.
He laid his life down for a new dream and vision
The new god he served was his television!
