I wrote this for my Mom and I hope you read it
and think of your own mother.
Love,
Annie Walton.
PS
sorry about how long it is.
Because She loves YOU
She counts every stretch mark,
And laughs at her swollen feet.
She can’t help but fall apart
When she hears that first heart beat.
She holds her child for the first time;
Counts each finger and every toe.
She whispers, "Are you really mine?"
It is as if she doesn’t know.
She finds it hard to rest
When from the nursery is no sound;
So she checks her child’s chest
To make sure it’s moving up and down.
She hums, sways, and sings
Even when she doesn’t have to.
She does all these things,
Well, simply because she loves YOU.
A MOMMY ISN'T SOMEONE WHO COOKS;
A MOMMY ISN'T SOMEONE WHO CLEANS;
Reading all of those story books,
Scaring away all those bad dreams!
A mommy isn’t someone who holds her child’s hand
When crossing every street;
A mommy isn’t someone to just understand
How to buckle the car seat!
A mommy isn’t someone who gives extra kisses
And ties all of those shoe laces;
Listening to every one of her children’s wishes
While wiping their dirty faces.
A mommy isn’t someone who hugs a little longer,
Or punishes when needed to,
And she is not even there to help her child grow stronger,
She just does,because she loves YOU.
Mom usually gets gray hair
When her children become teens.
They struggle with, "Life's not fair,"
Caring only for their dreams.
Mom knows her children aren’t aware
Of the trials she has found;
She tries to warn them of this fear
So they know what lurks around.
Mom always shares her knowledge
In the best way she can,
By sending them to College,
Helping in every plan.
Mom has a special way
Of teaching what she needs to;
She does this every day,
Always, because she loves YOU.
I’VE SEEN MY MOTHER PRAY
AT THE FOOT OF HER BED;
SHE DID THIS EVERY DAY
WITH A HUMBLY BOWED HEAD.
I’VE SEEN HER PRAY FOR HER CHILDREN,
BEING CAREFUL EV'RY WORD
IS SPOKEN TO YOU WITH WISDOM,
AND SHE NEVER GOES UNHEARD.
I HAVE SEEN MY MOTHER'S HEELS,
AND I’VE SEEN HER FOLDED HANDS;
BECAUSE I’VE SEEN WHERE SHE KNEELS,
I KNOW WHERE MY MOTHER STANDS.
She’s lived a life that’s pure,
She’s lived a life that’s true,
She does all of this, Father,
Just because she loves YOU.
