A little Thanksgiving humor in a poem.
THANKSGIVING TURKEY
Old Tom is not his usual self
With Thanksgiving drawing near
He’ll probably try to fly the coop
At least that’s what I hear
He don’t strut and carry on no more
When he’s around the hens
Maybe Tom is just getting too old
And is just an old has-been
Why, it was only about two years ago
He would strut up and down the street
Uh, that’s when he was only half this size
Not big enough to eat
And tonight getting ready to chop firewood
As I was sharpening up my ax
Old Tom took off like a scalded dog
Without ever looking back
And as he sped off into the sunset
I stared in disbelief
At a sign he had tied around his rear
That simply read; “Eat more beef”
