A real life event, where unknowingly God made me feel accepted, loved and part of the body of Jesus Christ.
Last week our church held an art, craft and flower festival. At the time, I had been working on an embroidery, a colourful butterfly. As it happened, it was finished in time to display as part of the craft skills in the church. To finish something at all is quite a rarity for me!

Whilst the church prepared for the festival, the weekly Stitch & Chat group held every Thursday morning, still went ahead. I hadn't been for a few weeks, but in the excitement of the festival, I was greatly encouraged to participate and put my butterfly embroidery on the craft table.

Seeing the preparations of the festival was truely wonderful! I gasped, as members from the other churches came to help. They had organised and displayed a vast array of flowers in all different forms and colours. Other people cleaned the church and set up the two craft tables. To see the variety of skills and accomplishments was an honour in itself. So many gifts, everyone had their own. Amidst all the work that was going on, the atmosphere was one of cheer, laughter and a real bonding of the body of Jesus. I felt absolute joy! My husband too had been inspired by the Holy Spirit having written some poetry.

My joy was made complete when my husband rang me up at home, whilst he was stewarding at the church festival. He said that someone was interested in purchasing the embroidery of the butterfly. I couldn't believe it! A lady wanted to buy it! Well in all honesty I wasn't interested in that, but was thrilled that someone actually liked it! I made an agreement whereby she could just donate something to the church. I was so excited I rushed and joined my husband at the church.

As I walked through the doors of the church, the first thing I noticed was that everything gleamed. The old wooden pews were shining with polish, the flowers were beautifully displayed in all their glory, it was quite breathtaking;like heaven.

Pastor Kenny was spraying the flowers with water and beaming with delight. I felt the joy and delight and asked him jokingly if he was the gardner! Janie, the Pastor's wife had baked her usual scrumptious cakes, which both myself, my husband and friend Peggy were enjoying immensely. The quiet lull of christian hymns in the background just increased my awareness of God's wonderful peaceful presence. No camera could have captured this. It was a vision photographed and etched on my memory.

In the most loving and gracious way possible, God had made me realise that my sewing gifts were given to me to use for His glory. I had nervously hidden them due to lack of confidence. The butterfly that I had embroidered was in fact my first ever design. Something I had thought about many years ago. Being part of this festival at my own church, had set me free in more ways than one. It truely gave me 'New Life' in Christ. The butterfly is out.
