I’ve heard this woe before:
I’m poor, I’m weak, I’m not so smart,
I’m sick, I’m worn, I’m sore.
Well, that suits me, My little one –
I love my small, frail one!
Believe me, love, just take My word:
You suit me, precious one!
Just show me, love, just one of those
Great heroes of the faith
Who were all strong and never weak,
Nor ran a crooked race;
Who always turned to Me straight off
When things were breaking down,
Or always did what I told them
Unprompted, on their own;
Who always asked, “Well, what’s the Lord’s
Direction in this thing?”
Or always checked with me before
Thinking, speaking, acting?
But I am God and all will know
The greatness of My Name,
For I am God and all will bow
To Him who calls the lame,
The weak, the frail, the not so smart,
The lonely, hurting ones,
The ones who hide where none but I
Can tell them, “Come, love, come!”
So set aside your ifs and buts –
Just come with Me, just come –
You suit Me just the way you are,
My delightful little one!
