The holidays are coming on
And just like every year,
I think of you more often now
And wish that you were here.
Here I stand alone today
But you are not so far away..
In every little thing I do
I see a bit of each of you.
The things you gave me through my life
I never can repay.
And I know it's thanks to you
I'm who I am today.
You taught me how to show respect,
You taught me right from wrong.
And at the times I would have quit,
You helped me to be strong.
Mom's strong and independent way
I carry with me to this day.
Dad's gentle fair integrity
A guiding light will always be.
And at this time of giving
I hope you both can see
My gift to you is living
So you'd be proud of me.
