One starry night very long ago,
At a point in time quite apropos.
Our sinful world couldn’t possibly know,
God would change it’s ebb and flow.

Because He loved us all so well,
And needing a way for man to repel
The Evil that holds us under it’s spell,
God sent His son to bid sin ~ farewell.

As God love us all He conferred His son,
A gift to this earth, a magnificent one,
He’d save mankind and sin would be shun
Then Satan could thus be forever undone.

Now at Christmastime year after year,
The hearts on men grow fairly sincere
Some bow a knee, even shedding a tear,
Unfortunately ~ it will soon disappear.

Back they will go to regrettable ways,
As greed surpasses, benevolent days,
Gone is the sound of worshipper’s praise,
Replaced by intemperance as Satan plays.

Perhaps this time there’ll be a stronghold,
As the hearts of men grow sturdy and bold,
Embracing the theme that will never grow old,
As they live out the greatest story e’re told.
