This is about looking at pictures at reminising. I thought my parents were born old. Maybe that just felt that. It made me want to look at things in my life
Smiling young people
In a photograph,
1954 New Years Eve
At the Elks
They were having fun
They were young.
Life was in their eyes.
They were my mother and father
Other than they are both dead now.
When did that life vacate the premises
And they settled into the business
Of just getting things done?
I look at my own photos.
The resemblances are strong.
Genetics is at play.
We donít even do the Elks
In this generation
When did we get to be our
Why did it happen?
Glimmers of real life can be seen
In my Fathers 80íTh birthday.
The Life never completely goes away.
Itís waiting in family
And surprise discovery
