In the Palms of His Hands
How safe are we as Christians? Yes, we are safe within His protection; in the palms of His hands. But how safe is that? Yes, we serve an all powerful God and no one can remove us from His grasp. Just how deep is this safety? Just how permanent?
There is debate about eternal security and to be honest, I can debate both sides fairly well. I tended to lean towards never being removed from the hand of God. Particularly of late.
When I was a boy I fell onto broken glass and have a large cross-shaped scar on the palm of my left hand. I rub my fingers across it often, even today and it reminds me of the accident in which I almost died. A passing stranger saved my life. That scar is permanent reminder.
There are a few man-made things in heaven – the scars on Jesus’ palms and feet. I am sometimes reminded of this when I see or feel my scarred hand. Does God do the same?
I am confident of this because I read in Isaiah 49:15-16a: Can a woman forget her suckling child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands…(KJV).
Yes, when Jesus looks at His nail scarred hands He sees us engraved into His palms. Can anyone or anything remove us from His grasp?
