There is one small part of this earthly mind
Still sheltered by God’s righteous wing
One clear perspective – a truly clean source
That won’t be fooled by earthly things

But when a symphony plays – all instruments at once
Each sound drowns out the others in my ears
It is no simple task to hone in ones mind
On a single instrument or note that she hears

Likewise it is very challenging,
A most exhausting art
To hear the undefiled speck
Of consciousness within my heart

For often times, so many other things -
The instruments of distraction
Clutter my mind with notes
And confusion is my reaction

But that single ringing bell,
So simple, pure, and set apart
Was set to ringing by God on high
And He placed it within my heart,

He wills me to use it to set my pitch
But I must ask Him to ring it louder
For surely He will grant this prayer
And overcome the symphony with the power

Of that single chiming bell
